Celebrate and Utilize Introversion with the Use Your Introvert Strengths Hypnosis Script
Help your clients recognize and make the most of their introvert strengths
The modern world often seems to value extraversion over introversion, but introverted traits come with many wonderful strengths, and it is important to value these and recognize how we can use them to our advantage.
The Use Your Introvert Strengths Hypnosis Script from The Script Collection was put together to help clients recognize and make the most of these natural strengths.
The pre-talk considers the pros and cons of applying the label of "introvert" to ourselves: it can be useful to recognize certain truths about who we are and how we operate, but there is a danger that we can end up pigeon-holing ourselves into that label until it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The script refers to "a person with introvert traits" rather than simply "an introvert," recognizing that we all exist on a spectrum of introversion/extraversion rather than being 100% one or the other. Finally, it identifies some of the many strengths a tendency towards introversion can confer and reassures the client that this session will help them appreciate and tap into those strengths.
The induction begins with guided breathing and encouragement to tune in to the present moment - the sounds of the words and the silences, the temperature of the air, and the growing sense of relaxation as the muscles intuitively "soften and release" and the thoughts "quiet down." The mind is likened to "a beautiful lake ... becoming completely still" so that it can reflect reality clearly, "like a mirror."
The client is encouraged to "let go even more deeply now" as a countdown progresses from five to one then continues past zero and even into the negatives, "down to whatever number feels right."
Now the trancework begins with an exploration of the different roles and responsibilities of the two hemispheres of the brain, and the intrinsic value and importance of each. Slowly this idea of the two hemispheres working in different ways is unpacked, with a focus on how it is possible to protect "that deeper, quieter aspect of yourself" and "honor its value."
The client can identify with the idea that some workplaces or cultures tend to overvalue left-hemisphere traits such as being loud, certain, and decisive, but it is quickly asserted that there is also a need to "make space for deeper reflection." A slow, extended description of this process of "allowing ideas to coalesce" helps the client experience this way of thinking in real time and recognize the importance of this capacity. A string of embedded commands pushes the client to honor, develop, cultivate, and protect this capacity.
Now it is recognized that in certain times throughout history, more left-hemispheric traits have been appreciated more than right-hemispheric traits, but this approach is painted in a somewhat negative light, implying the shortcomings of "relying on stereotypes and mental shortcuts to make quick and fast decisions."
Conversely, the script acknowledges those times in history where quiet reflection was "deeply appreciated" and asserts that throughout history, "behind the loudness," even the greatest leaders have always sought counsel from a "thoughtful, quiet, deeply wise advisor." The language here is clearly more positive, helping the client naturally create positive associations with introversion.
The client is now reminded firmly that "you have real strengths within you" and that people can and will appreciate the "value [they] can bring to situations" through their "unique perspective." They are encouraged to stay calm and objective even in situations where there is pressure to act like an extravert, noticing "the way it makes sense" in that context yet comfortably and confidently remaining true to who they are.
As the trancework winds down, embedded commands help the client internalize the skills they need to really accept and make use of their introvert strengths. They are encouraged to give themselves the time and space to recharge and unwind when they need to, to find ways to channel their energy and strengths, and to really relax with who they are and how they connect to others.
Finally, future pacing gives the client an opportunity to experience being completely at ease with their personality traits and strengths, noticing how this inner confidence is expressed outwardly in their body language and facial expressions. They are directed to "merge into this future you" and to realize that "any old pressure" they used to put on themselves to be different to who they are has completely melted away.
