The induction opens by assuring the client they do not have to try to relax. Flowing language subtly reminds them of times when their conscious mind has been "lost in thought." A progressive relaxation is employed to usher the client into a deeper state of relaxation.

The client is asked to recall a happy memory, when they experience good feelings. They are guided to imagine these feelings spreading throughout their body, and an embedded command directs them to "enjoy connecting with the good things" in their life. A countdown eases the client into a  trance state.

As the trancework begins, an embedded command tells the client that they are "the monarch" of their own life. As such, they have a castle with "thick stone walls" that protect them. An embedded command anchors the idea of "protective boundaries" deep within the client's unconscious mind.

The client is guided to understand how unkind words said by others can be kept outside of their castle walls. They are led to notice how insults lobbed from outside the protective barriers "become cartoon-like images" that do not reflect the reality of who the client is as a person.

The client is guided to notice how the people who direct unpleasant words or behavior their way seem to look small and far away. As the client looks, these people become further and further distant, shrinking to a speck on the horizon, far beyond their protective castle walls.
