Developing self esteem can be tough. Some people seem to be born with good self
esteem, while others need a lot of help with it. If you aren't one of those people
who has self esteem to spare, try some of these tips for developing your self esteem.
Decide what you want for your life and go after it. Think about what you need, not
what someone else or society says you should need. Maybe you're single and your
mother wants you to find a spouse. You're happy being single and would rather focus
on your job. Set goals for your career and do whatever you need to accomplish them.
Just knowing what you want and having a plan of action for getting it is great for
developing self esteem.
Approval has to come from inside. It's great if you get kudos from other people;
that can make you feel really good. But if you don't approve of yourself, whatever
approval you get from someone else really means nothing. If you depend on others to
tell you you've done something great, you're giving up control of your life. Recognize
that you've done something well and reward yourself for it. That means more than any
other applause you could get.
