Hello
We all know it's important to relax, right? But did you know that regular relaxation can actually make you smarter? That's right - calming the emotions frees your brain up to think more clearly. In the now thankfully dim and distant days when public speaking still filled me with terror, I can recall just what it was like not being able to think what I was saying at all. Learning to relax while presenting made me a 'smarter' as well as a 'calmer' presenter (and probably saner looking too!).
Yes, we all hear about how we need to unwind and relax, but there are probably things you don't know about relaxation. This month's free audio insight is all about why you need to relax. It also explains the difference between relaxation and hypnosis and shows you an instant way to relax any place, anytime.
I am particularly proud of this month's new hypnosis downloads and I feel that they are going to help transform many lives out there. But there is a particular favorite of mine among them, and I'll tell you why that is in Downloads Unwrapped below.
Here's wishing you a great self improving autumn/fall!

Downloads Unwrapped - the psychology behind the sessions
Changing a problem state isn't just about using hypnosis well. It's also about really 'getting under the skin' of the problem. For example, although all addictions work in essentially the same way, if the hypnotherapist doesn't fully understand the common psychological patterns that hold addictions in place, they won't be as effective. At hypnosisdownloads.com we blend the latest psychological understanding with the best hypnotic techniques - which is why they are so effective.
The three sessions I want to 'unwrap' here are: Losing a friend, Stop arguing and Power of yes. I have seen numerous clients, mostly women, seeking help with a type of grief that you don't usually hear talked about. The loss of a friend through the termination of the friendship rather than through death. One thing us humans hate is uncertainty - especially in our emotional lives. If someone stops seeing us and we don't know why it can be really hard to take. This session looks at how better to come to terms with ambiguity in relationships and how to get over the loss of a close friend.
Talking of tolerating uncertainty, the Stop arguing session also helps people relax with not having to be absolutely right all of the time. Actually, as this session shows, it's not how much or how passionately people argue that does the most damage to their relationship, it's how they argue. Arguing can become addictive and for some people the 'buzz' of discord can seem more important than the health of the relationship. This session seeks to encourage new ways of relating (that don't include being a pushover).
If arguing is all about saying 'no', then The power of yes is about opening up to potential. As very young children we don't have a sense of our personal limitations. There was a time when you didn't think of yourself as 'not the type of person who could. start a business, do math, sweet talk a potential partner, run a marathon, learn a foreign language, make an audience of hundreds roar with laughter, dance, act, sing, be fascinated by philosophy. The point is, most people start to say 'no' to life as the imposed (and self imposed) limitations of who we are and what we can do begin to close in on us. The power of yes seeks to redress this. As long as it's legal and fair, then what's to stop you? Saying 'yes' to more things in life means becoming more interesting - and more interested - taking on more challenges and seeing them as opportunities so that you can, in the words of Bob Dylan, 'stay forever young'.
Mark's Personal Favorite
Now on to my own personal favorite for this month. Yes it has to be. it is. Dealing with resistance. Why? I hear you clamor. Well, I spent years reading not only 'Eastern philosophy' but also about the work of the great, late Milton Erickson. The principles of dealing with resistance that lateral thinking offers are so much more elegant, fun and - yes - effective than just trying to beat someone into submission verbally by telling them what they should be thinking/doing.
From seeing resistance as a useful 'energy' to be directed and even encouraged, to hearing examples of resistance busting techniques put into practice, this session will help not just therapists with 'tricky' clients but anyone who wants to be more influential. Why is this one my favorite? Because I have used those lateral thinking resistance busting techniques with countless clients (some of whom desperately needed help) to help them get better in spite of themselves. It worked where nothing else would do the trick!
