Hi there,
it's Mark here...

When people get to know you work as a 'hypnotist' or 'hypnotherapist' they sometimes ask: "Do you do psychotherapy as well?" Imagine asking an airline pilot "Do you travel places too?" I usually reply that the reason I "do hypnosis" is to "do psychotherapy". I might not get around to saying (because it can get a little too deep for a casual conversation) that I think all psychotherapists should use hypnosis, just as I believe all dentists should know about teeth. And all hypnotherapists should know how to work on the conscious and cognitive levels with their clients. Worryingly, some psychotherapists use hypnosis without even knowing they are doing so! But let's not get into that here.
People are not just 'hypnotic beings', although dreaming, daydreaming and the use/misuse of the imagination are certainly central to many folk's lives. Neither are we just 'rational conscious beings'. If we were, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) would work for everybody with everything - which, useful though it is, it doesn't. And that's because many - actually most - emotional reactions are quicker than the speed of thought, so "changing your thoughts" may make little difference.
This understanding underpins the new Managing bipolar disorder, for instance, which focuses on helping bipolar sufferers 'tune in' to what they are feeling so they can pick up the precursors of a bipolar 'episode' and take action to recalibrate themselves. And even in Long term thinking we are focusing not so much on thought itself, but on the feeling of connection to an expected future. Similarly, the new upgraded Stop emotional eating aims to help people meet emotional needs appropriately as well as think differently about their lives.
We at hypnosisdownloads.com look at research into how people actually experience emotional problems but also - and this is vitally important - how people thrive, and how to help people along the path from emotional suffering to health; from just 'surviving' to 'thriving'.
Our sessions are crafted through a blend of inspiration, the personal hypnotic psychotherapeutic experience of four top hypnotherapists with many years of personal practice and of training other professionals, and the latest psychological research.
In the Downloads Unwrapped section below I'll just give you a sense of the thinking behind three of this month's sessions.
All the best,

Mark's Tip for the Top
My personal favourite new download this month is Eyes of a child because it resonates the most with me, partly because I can still quite clearly recall the immense wonder of being very young and also because I know how vital it is to keep young in spirit as we go through life.
New Audio Insight
This month's free Audio Insight is: How to overcome procrastination by tapping into your need for completion. It gives you some simple tools for defeating the 'putting off' of travelling the path to where you really want to be.

About HypnosisDownloads.com
HypnosisDownloads.com was created by the two of us - Roger Elliott and Mark Tyrrell - to provide a readily accessible source of high quality hypnosis to cover a whole range of situations that can affect everyday life and which could be used by professional therapists and individuals for self hypnosis.
As the founders of Uncommon Knowledge we train therapists in the latest methods. Not everybody has the time or the inclination to undergo this level of training but the beauty of hypnosis is that basic skills can be acquired quickly. HypnosisDownloads.com helps you do that.
